During the Warring States period from around 1400, rice and miso (miso) were a necessity for those who went into battle as a source of calories and nutrition. They needed rice and miso for their war effort. So they had to think about how to transport the fermented food, miso. And they realized the importance of miso and developed the way to brew it.
Oda Nobunaga, Toyotomi Hideyoshi, and Tokugawa Ieyasu, all rulers of the Warring States period, were all born in Aichi Prefecture, the same area where soybean miso is produced as we are. It is clear that the nutrient-rich soybean paste fostered a strong force and was a force to be reckoned with.
